Looking for a better way to ride Big Bend? We offer a Hub & Spoke approach to off-road exploration that’s ideal for real-world riders—especially those newer to the sport or traveling solo
Unlike traditional point-to-point routes that lock you into long, remote stretches, our system is based around a central basecamp, giving you flexible access to multiple off-road loops (“spokes”) radiating from one location.
This makes your adventure:
Less rushed — no stress over hotel check-ins or fuel range
More customizable — loop back, skip ahead, or re-ride favorite sections
Confidence-building — revisit familiar terrain to sharpen skills
Safer — easier access to fuel, water, and help if needed
If you’re looking for pavement-heavy rides, we suggest other providers. But if you want a true off-road experience in one of the most rugged regions in Texas, you’re in the right place.
Many Big Bend routes try to cover too much ground in too little time. The terrain is tougher than most expect, and the remoteness means:
Limited fuel and water stops
Almost no impromptu / dispersed camping options
Missed hotel check-ins
Frustration instead of freedom
New riders especially get caught off guard by the distances and difficulty
Every route includes:
✅ A suggested multi-day itinerary with flexible options
✅ Downloadable GPX files for easy navigation
✅ 360° VR-style YouTube videos so you can preview each section in advance
Whether you’re a first-time ADV rider or just looking for a more thoughtful way to explore Big Bend, our Hub & Spoke model gives you the tools to ride smarter, safer, and with more freedom.
Kick off your journey with a true taste of the past
The first leg of the standard route leads you down a rugged, century-old mining road—one of the area’s original arteries carved through the landscape at the turn of the 20th century.
Starting just off Main Park Road on the north side of the park, this 30-mile stretch delivers a mix of gravel, rock, and sand that sets the tone for the adventure ahead. Expect 2–3 hours of riding through raw terrain, scenic isolation, and a warmup that’s anything but tame.
Dial in the Sand Legs: Riding Out of Rio Grande
Leaving the pavement behind at Rio Grande Village, this route kicks off with a scenic stretch of gravel as you head west toward the notorious Black Gap. Expect a mix of easy gravel and numerous extended sandy two-track sections — perfect terrain to build confidence in loose conditions. Riders on heavier bikes may find themselves wrestling their machines if things go sideways. Keep your momentum, stay in your track, and above all stand up and let the terrain guide you and the bike tell you where it wants to go.
This section covers roughly 10 miles and typically takes under an hour to reach the fork leading to Glenn Springs Road.
